Native New Yorker Rachel Freeman has traveled extensively throughout Northern Europe and lived in both Scotland and Poland for several years. She is also an avid foodie and is 'au fait' with both New York and Edinburgh restaurants. She lives between NY and Edinburgh.
Part of her time in Scotland included an extended stay and thesis research time in Lower Shader, on the Isle of Lewis, a Hebridean island 60 miles northwest of mainland Scotland. The stay involved learning much about local placenames, traditions and stories, numerous cups of tea, sheep shearing, peat lifting, digging/planting potatoes and making hay. This makes her quite a knowledgeable resource for visits and information in the Scottish Highlands and Islands.
Determined not to join the ranks of the jaded, Rachel contines to find wonder and new niches in New York City and Edinburgh. She has written for guidebooks for Warsaw, Poland and for New York City. She has a passion for food and streetlife in New York City, entertaining elements in Edinburgh, what's on in Poland and the wonder of the Highlands and Islands of Scotland.

Learned Polish to a highly communicative level, approaches French as a work in progress, understands Glaswegian, learned a smattering of Scottish Gaelic whilst completing a thesis based in the Outer Hebrides, drank a yard of ale in Yorkshire, swam in the Baltic Sea several times without getting a rash or hypothermia, sheared a few sheep, won a limbo contest in Antigua, drove a car unscathed on Polish roads, sings in an a cappella Bulgarian Women's Choir, got a tattoo in New Zealand, took a short dip in a hole in a frozen lake in Northern Finland, continues to find alternative ways to 'accomplish'....
